Omni Berkshire Place Hotel in New York City is a fabulous four star hotel. It’s a good choice for travelers on business and for travelers who would like to stay in luxury during their vacation in the biggest city in America.
This hotel has all of the amenities that you would expect from a four star hotel in NYC. Here’s a shortlist:
1. Satellite TV. 2. Valet Parking. 3. AC. 4. Beauty Center. 5. Gym. 6. Wake-up Service. 7. Business Center. 8. Babysitting. 9. Multilingual Staff. 10. Tour Desk.
The hotel building itself is quite beautiful especially with the lights on at night. And of course the rooms are decorated luxuriously. But what is really great about Omni Berkshire Place to me isn’t what it looks like outside or how nice it is inside but where it’s located. After all; I hope you’re not planning on spending your trip to NYC inside your hotel!
This hotel is located on East 52nd Street between Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue and that means it’s near many interesting things in the city. Here’s a shortlist of what’s within a very short walk of this hotel:
1. St. Patrick’s Cathedral. 2. Rockefeller Center. 3. Museum of TV & Radio. 4. Sony Wonder Technology Lab. 5. Subway Stations.
As you have probably already guessed a four star hotel in such a prime location in Midtown Manhattan is not inexpensive. As of right now the cheapest room I can find on the New York Hotel Deals site is $500/room. Rates do change depending on the day and the season but you are unlikely to find a reservation at a hotel of this caliber for a discount price in New York City. In this very expensive city even the 2 star budget hotels are usually over $200/night.
For people who plan on taking part in many touristy things, the New York Pass is a great way to save cash. It allows you to do over 40 tourist activities for one low fee. It can also save you a lot of time since it gives you line jumping privileges too!

I lived in New York for years and the biggest thing I miss about it is the amazing food. There are just so many fantastic restaurants in the city. Among the food I miss most are real Italian food, spicy Indian food, and wonderful Vietnamese restaurants.

There is such a huge amount of things to do in New York City that narrowing them down to a list of 10 is nearly impossible. This particular list of ten things to do in New York City is aimed at those who want to do “tourist things” rather than those who want to experience “real New York.”
1. The Empire State Building. The most famous building in the United States for about 80 years now and because of the tragic events of 9/11, it is once again the tallest building in New York City. Take a trip to the top just like King Kong for an incredible view!
2. The Statue of Liberty. Since the French sent this wonderful statue to the United State it has been a great symbol for our country and the idea of freedom in general.
3. Food Tours. I strongly recommend taking a food tour! The dining in Manhattan is outstanding.
4. Museum of Modern Art. I could fill this list just with museums!
5. The Met. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the most visited museum in America.
6. American Museum of Natural History. If you have kids this is almost definitely the museum they will most appreciate. It’s really a fabulous museum for curious people of all ages.
7. On Location Tour. See famous sites from movies and television!
8. The Bodies Exhibition. I actually think this is really creepy but if you are interested in seeing the bodies of deceased human beings up close then this is the thing for you.
9. Bicycle Rental at Central Park. Instead of just taking a walk in Central Park, you can rent yourself a bike and take a ride through it.
10. Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. It’s amazing how real the wax statues look!

New York is one of the world’s most visited cities and with so many shops and visitors attractions it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. Although like in most big cities it’s hard to find good accommodation. With so many bland hotels around these days why not choose a more unique one instead? Here are five of the best:
1. Night - Hotel Night is a sleek, sexy boutique hotel with an edge. The distinctive black and white signature decor is a theme throughout the hotel and gives all the rooms a uber stylish look. All the rooms offer flat screen tvs, well presented bathrooms and luxury toiletries. It also in a great location- right in the middle of the popular theatre district.
2. The Pod - The pod hotel is an excellent concept and one that’s much needed in the a major city. They offer comfortable, funky accommodation for a price that won’t break the bank. You can choose from hostel style multiple occupation rooms or more private rooms but communal areas are fun and spacious and the Pod prides itself on it’s exceptionally friendly customer service.
3. Marrakech Hotel - This Moroccan inspired hotel is a reasonably priced in a fantastic location. Newly renovated the colourful decor includes authentic Moroccan lamps, ceramic tiles and rich fabrics. It’s Upper West side location also makes it easy to visit great jazz bars, restaurants and shops.
4. The Gershwin - This place offers lower priced accommodation but with an extra effort to make it different Pop art is the focus of the decor and the hotel even has a couple of original prints (including a famous Warhol). With its fun, hip and youthful vibe it’s a good choice for a more unusual hotel and can even choose a dorm style room for an even cheaper option. Also had down to the “Living Room” to catch some great bands and other entertainment shows.
5. The Jane - Another intriguing budget hotel with a time-warp, quirky feel with rooms inspired by vintage train cabins. The rooms/cabins are very compact and there’s an emphasis on conserving energy although in every room there is a flat-screen tvs and ipod dock/clock. The decor is also pretty unusual with authentic old-school bellhops, maids in black and white uniforms and stuffed monkeys with fez hats!
