I take a tour of the Brunei Night Market with local lady, Izzy. She shows me round the market sampling local delicacies for our dinner. The Night Market (Gadong Pasar Malam) is open year round from 4pm-11pm and is located in the Gadong Fish Market parking lot. This was Izzy’s first time in front of a camera..what a star! There was recently opened in Cathedral City, an award winning restaurant where the owners make some of the best limoncello I have ever tasted. If you are not already familiar with limoncello it is an Italian lemon liquor that is produced in Southern Italy off the Amlafi coast.
Good food brings hungry people. What began as a small catering company is now one of the busiest restaurants in the California desert. The owner’s come from Connecticut and recently made the desert their home. Tommy “Cello” as he is frequently referred to is the magician who makes fantastic lemon liquor, which is traditionally served as an after dinner drink or digestive as the culinary experts like to describe it.
The restaurant itself is located in an out of the way shopping center that has seen better days. But don’t let that dissuade you, this tantalizing American Bistro that was selected as one of the ten best restaurants by Palm Springs Life Magazine. Its central location is ideal for any desert resident. Located on Date Palm Drive and Gerald Ford Drive, Cello’s invited me in with their warm, cozy and relaxing vibe that made me feel right at home. The soft lighting brings an elegance and sophistication that lacks the stuffiness that some would think. And with live Jazz providing a soothing ambience sound to the atmosphere, was just the right touch to move the night.
On the night that I was there with my wife, we were given the option to eat inside or outside on the patio, and with the cool breeze on a summer night, the patio worked just fine. After a brief conversation that included sharing a few laughs with the owners, we started off the evening with some wine and an Onion Soup Fondue that comes equipped with a deep-dark, richly flavored broth along with caramelized onions and three croutons to give it that right appeal.
When my main course arrived I can see why this place was the winner of the 2011 Restaurant of the Year award. My wife ordered the ‘Pasta of the Day” and I the “Catch of the Day” which was a mussels and prawns dish that was prepared to perfection. My wife’s Eggplant Cannelloni left little to be desired, stuffed with spinach and ricotta and served with a marinara sauce. Our friends ordered what is purported to be Cello’s signature entre, the Chicken Caprese. It is a flavorful choice that is groomed with yellow and red cherry tomatoes along with mini fresh mozzarella balls.
For desert we shared strawberries stuffed with marscarpone and dipped in rich chocolate and a tiramisu that gives cake an added dimension with the pudding filling.
Of course, we all finished with the limoncello, which is a little bit of Italy in glass. I’ll be going back there.

Chilli Crab is a signature dish for which Singapore is famous. In this video I try the dish discussing it’s delicate flavours. The chilli is not hot in the recipe, it is of a soup texture, sweet and savoury. Mud crabs are used in the meal and the sauce is a mixture of tomato and chilli. The stir fried crab meat adds a lovely sweetness to the dish.
Visit Atlantic Canada’s Bay of Fundy and explore one of the planet’s most dramatic and dynamic shores!
Home to the highest tides in the world, the Bay of Fundy is a 270 km (170 mile) long sea bay that stretches between the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on Canada’s east coast. Each day 100 billion tonnes of seawater flows in and out of the Bay of Fundy during one tide cycle. That’s more than the flow of all the planet’s freshwater rivers combined!
Visitors can see two extraordinary high and low tides each 24 hours. The time between a high tide and a low tide is, normally six hours and 13 minutes. As such, you can reasonably expect to see 1 high and one low tide during daylight hours. Tide times move ahead roughly sixty minutes everyday and tide times change somewhat for different locations around the Bay. Check with the community you are planning to visit for accurate low and high tide time schedules.
Bay of Fundy cuisine is not to be skipped! Lobster, mussels, smoked salmon, scallops, and other fresh fish are perfect complements to Fundy’s prize-winning wines. In addition to conventional harvest of wild blueberries and maple products, Fundy bistros, inns and farm markets feature a large range of fresh fruit and plants. If you dare, sample Fundy’s popular eatable seaweed snack: Dulse!
Attractions displaying Fundy’s dynamic ecology and geology are spread through-out the region. Such crown jewels of the Fundy seascape include national and provincial parks, coastal hiking trails, natural history museums, lighthouses and tide harbours. The region’s culture and history are celebrated at Fundy interpretation centres, historic sites, museums, horticultural display gardens, and artisans’ studios.
Experience real Fundy hospitality with accommodations celebrating the Bay’s rich architectural heritage. Choose from a broad range of full service hotels, characteristic country hotels, historic bed and breakfasts, and wonderfully made coastal cottages.
Team up with visitors of the Bay of Fundy as they celebrate, preserve, and share the earth’s most dramatic and diversified tidal environment. It is a visitor experience not like any other on the planet!
