Denver is a very exciting place both to live and to visit. One of my favorite things to do in Denver is heading out to the Zoo. They have a beautiful zoo that has over 400 animals; make sure to check that out. There are several breweries in and around Denver that are neat to tour. If you are hungry for Mexican food, check out Casa Bonita, especially if you have kids. Its a fun eating establishment that has a waterfall with divers during your dinner. But for a place to stay, make sure to stay at the Grand Hyatt Denver. It is a beautiful hotel with a great staff.
Another great city is Boulder, CO. Nestled at the foot of the mountains, not only does it have picturesque outdoor scenery but visitors also have access to all of the amenities of a progressive, urban city (i.e. great restaurants, theaters, museums, and shopping). Boulder also hosts several festivals throughout the year. Lastly because visitors can partake in kayaking, fly-fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and tubing in nearby Boulder Creek, the city was rated the number one sports town in America by Outside Magazine.
Colorado Springs, CO sits at the base of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. You can enjoy hiking, biking, white water rafting, fly fishing, or exploring Pike’s Peak, a local landmark. One of Colorado Springs’ main attractions is the Garden of the Gods and it is free to all who want to enjoy it. Visitors enjoy walking the mountain trails, rock-climbing, and even horse-back riding through the Garden. It is truly a spectacular site. There is also river-rafting in the Arkansas River or if you prefer, you can try you hand at some gambling at the nearby casinos of Cripple Creek.
The northernmost city along Colorado’s Front Range is Fort Collins. It can be thought of as Boulder’s smaller sibling. It is similar to Boulder in that it is also a college town, home of Colorado State University and the CSU Rams. Not far to the west of the city is the six and one-half mile long Horesetooth Reservoir. This big stretch of watery fun beckons those interested in fishing, boating, water skiing, camping and picnicking. White water rafting adrenaline junkies can take day trips on Colorado’s Cache La Poudre River which is designated the only National Wild and Scenic River in Colorado.
Colorado travel possibilities are incredible, limited only by your imagination. From riding historic railroads, trail riding ATVs, camping, hunting, fishing, basking in hot springs, mountain climbing, attending festivals, fairs and cultural events to dude ranch vacations, the imagination can be overwhelmed with all the possibilities. It is always wise to reserve accommodations as far in advance as possible due to the waves of travelers attending various events along the Front Range.
