Did you know Senegal?

Senegal is a country located on the Atlantic coast of Africa. Has roughly 13 million inhabitants and is ranked 144 out of 169 countries in the U.N.O. Human development ranking. The survival expectancy when born, of the Senegalese population is 56 years, 25 years less than the Spanish population. Its per capita earnings is 60 EU Bucks a month, 35 times lower than the one in Spain. There are lots of folk wanting to help the Senegal, maybe, because they have fallen crazy about its beautiful landscapes.

Its beautiful beaches found along its shore, frequently kilometers and miles long. But above all , with the people, Senegal’s greatest asset. Especially friendly and friendly folks, they are incredible people. As expected Senegal is commonly known as “Teranga’s” country, meaning “hospitality country”.

NGO’s and Senegal

That's why lots of NGOs are presently working in Senegal. But NGOs wotking in Africa’s should pay atention to 3 fundamental principles: First, to tyr to get a nearly complete lack of executive costs. All of the raised cash should be dedicated to the projects. The executive tasks should be undertaken on a voluntary basis by members of the NGO.

Secondly, a total involvement with local shareholders should exist. No project should be undertaken without prior approval from Senegal’s authorities nor without the explicit support of the population, which should take full responsibility, bring his work and, so far as possible , their own resources.

What can you do for this country?

We emphasize the importance of the durability of the projects. No-one wants to see orchards, farms and schools to be abandoned,letting the population in a same or worse situation than before. Digital Marketing helps as well , and new technologies are giving a new tool for development.

So it shouldn't be undertaken any school, or any medicare facility, not ensuring before that it'll have his teacher, or nurse, or doctor. And in the case of orchards and farms, part of the production should be dedicated to the sale. So Senegalese folk can have the resources to buy implements and tools and seeds -of course- for the following crop.

The National Banner Of Liberia

Most with somewhat of an interest in the Liberian flag, can tell that there is a striking resemblance between Old Glory and the national flag of the republic of Liberia. This banner actually has intended to display the ex-American slave origins of the republic. It hoisted on official and non-official flagpoles since it is the country’s national ensign.

1847 was an important year to today’s Liberian republic. It was then that independence was granted to the young nation. From that day and onwards, this republic has flown the Liberian flag from Liberian flag poles proudly. The republic’s ensign is very similar to the United States national banner. The difference includes the number of horizontal stripes (11 instead of 13) and the featuring of one 5-pointed star in the upper left portion of the flag. The use of colors is very much similar.

As I was told, the white star on the blue field represents the country’s independence. Back in the day, it was the very first independence republic in (western) Africa. Ever since, the national ensign has served of a reminder of such to folks around the world. Displayed from Liberian flag poles in and out of Liberia, this flag displays beautifully.

Neighboring Sierra Leone flies an ensign from flagpoles that is very much different. This flag was flown for the very first time on the day the country was declared independent, on April 27, 1961. Unlike the Liberian flag, this ensign is a tricolor that features the colored green, white and blue. Tricolors type ensigns are a popular flag-design used by countries around the world today, including a good number of European republics.

Even though the republic has been around for a while, the country did not see much modernization till the 1940’s, following substantial investments by the United States of America, during the Second World War. The republic was in fact a founding member of the United Nations. It has experienced a fair share of economical and political instability for a good number of years, unfortunately. Liberia did experience some growth some years ago, but the economy started declining as a result of bad economic management following the ’80’s coup.

Back in the day, and as aforementioned, slaves were brought (back) to this part of the world for purposes of freedom and equality. Not only slaves from the America’s were found here, also slaves that were freed from other ships were sent to Liberia, instead of being sent to their respective countries of origin.

The national flag became recognized as such back in 1847. In or during the years before independence was granted to Liberia, a similar flag-design was maintained that featured a white cross instead of a white star, in the canton of the ensign. The cross was exchanged for the star during the events of 1847. Ever since the national ensign of the republic has remained unchanged. The Liberian flag for use with residential flagpoles is commonly made for sale by resellers throughout the nation.

It’s not like a zoo where animals are kept in cages. Instead they run free, and you are able to take a tour (either with a guide or without) and get remarkably close to some of the fauna, including meerkats, zebras, and even full-grown lions.

Rosebank

If you are looking to do a little shopping for authentic and hand-made souvenirs, head to Rosebank for the Sunday flea market. Located on the roof of a mall, it is a fun and different way to do a little shopping. It’s also a good opportunity to people-watch and see what every day life is like. If you can’t make it on Sundays, the mall underneath is open everyday of the week. Another fun place to shop is Oriental Plaza, which features more than 350 independently owned stores. The owners of these stores are eager to bargain prices, a practice that isn’t widely encountered in Johannesburg.

Melville

Melville is an artsy neighborhood that is fun to explore. Eclectic shops and quaint little restaurants make it a great place to spend the day shopping, eating, and experiencing just one of the many colorful sides of Johannesburg.

Swaziland, a popular tourist attraction, situated in Africa features more on its beautiful wild nature, national rituals and for some, a variety of recreational activities. It stands high for its ecological zones ranging from savannas to dense tropical forests.

If you want to explore Swaziland make sure you’ll be trekking, hiking and/or horse riding, as they are the best ways to explore this beautiful country. There are wonderful routes on the national parks - created by savage medieval tribes of local residents. The horse riding excursions are the most common tourist attractions - the climate and the conformation made this place one of the most famous centers of horse tourism. Horse riding is usually the only way to access remote places of Swaziland.

National dancing and singing are the peculiarities of main cultural ceremonies of Swaziland. Traditional folk ceremonies have become attractive performances for tourists. A lot of travelers willingly attend dancing and singing ceremonies watching local residents dance in their national costumes and hearing national music with magnetic melodies and rhythms.

Tourists who wish to see the most important religious ceremonies are welcomed to visit the country in August or September (the “Reed” ceremony) or in December-January (in order to attend the holidays arranged to glorify the harvest and rich crops).

As a matter of fact, the latter ceremony is very spectacular - it involves pilgrimage to the coast with the purpose of coming into the water in order to take some of Indian Ocean foam. Then people attend all villages giving local residents plants, water and ocean foam. The culmination of the holiday is the Swaziland’s King dancing and eating a pumpkin. When the King finishes his pumpkin, all the people of the kingdom have the right to consume newly harvested plants.

Swaziland is famous for its unique flora and fauna. Swaziland national parks attract thousands of tourists. For instance, Mlilvane Wildlife Sanctuary contains a population of hippopotamuses, crocodiles, giraffes, zebras and other animals. Here live more than 200 species of birds including the Violet Lory - Swaziland’s national emblem.

A great variety of tropical plants and animals like hippos, species of antelopes, leopards, crocodiles, hyenas, 350 species of birds and others can be found in one of the popular national park, Mlavula, which is spread over thousands of hectares of wild forests.
