Sao Paulo Is The Largest City In The Southern Hemisphere And A Cosmopolitan Showcase
The largest city in the Southern hemisphere is Sao Paulo Brazil. Named after St. Paul it was first established as in 1554 by Jesuit priests and a local chief. It is located in the South East of Brazil and is 70 kilometers inland from the first ever permanent Portuguese settlement in the new world which is now the port city of Santos. It remained pretty much a village until the late 19th century when an influx of immigrants led it to overtake population of Rio de Janeiro by 1960. Continue reading
